Economist and International Payment Systems expert with >25 years’ experience in financial markets infrastructures and payment systems policy, program implementation, technical assistance, product development, and research & analytics related to digital economy, digital payment & online commerce. Previously with the Mastercard global public policy team where he developed public private partnerships & advised governments on digital commerce implementation strategies. Prior to Mastercard, Hemant was also with the World Bank as Senior Payment Systems Expert, where he advised governments on policy frameworks and implementation strategies. Hemant has previously worked at Citibank and Bank One/JP Morgan Chase prior to World Bank and Mastercard. Other experience includes being on Advisory Board Member for G20/IFC SME Finance Forum and on Executive Board Member for Better than Cash Alliance. He holds a: Master's in economics from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA.
